Timac Agro Canada announces its soil conditioner will be included in research trials on pulse crop root disease

[Regina Saskatchewan, June 2023] : Timac Agro Canada, a leading provider of innovative agricultural solutions, proudly announces that its soil conditioner product will be included in Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC)  trials to advance solution-focused research on pulse crop root diseases.

In these AAFC-led research projects, Drs. Hubbard and Chatteron have applied Timac Agro’s soil conditioner as part of their research into the use of biocontrol or natural products as tools to manage  root rot of pea. Timac Agro donated the product and provided advice on its use. The Timac Agro product was included, alongside other natural or biocontrol products, because it has the potential to raise calcium levels in the soil, thereby impacting the root rot pathogen Aphanomyces eutieches and because is easy to integrate with existing agronomic practices in the Canadian prairies. These small plot research trials are at five Canadian research sites, two in Alberta and three in Saskatchewan.  These trials will evaluate the ability of various natural products and biocontrol agents to reduce root rot severity and/or increase yield in peas exposed to root rot, caused by Aphanomyces euteiches and/or Fusarium species.
